Aromatherapy Massage:

Aromatherapy Massage

The impact of stress on the human body is quite formidable and a stressful day-to-day life can take a toll on your health. From tension headaches or a stiff neck, to more severe disorders like heart attack or stroke, stress can devastate the human body, mind, and emotional state of being.

Stress can causes plethora of ailments, including nervous conditions, anxiety, depression, and phobias trigged by chronic stressful events. Many folks who suffer from stress induced conditions are often advised to avoid what causes their stress. Though this may not be practical as most stress is work related, there are some proactive steps you can take to alleviate the stress you feel you have to deal with on a daily basis.

Enter massage and aromatherapy as stress reducers, and aromatherapy massage as a great way to cut down on stress. More than straight massage, an aromatherapy massage combines the art of aromatherapy with the soothing tension relief of massage.

Aromatherapy utilizes fragrant herbs and flowers whose scents open your breathing passages and make you feel peaceful, while the skin absorbs the healing properties released from the herb or flower. You can combine more than one herb and make an aromatherapy cocktail which will offer several nice scents and potential relaxing agents. Using aromatherapy massage oil is a superb way to experience fast benefits from herbs because the oil is worked directly into the skin and immediately absorbed.

Lighting aromatherapy candles during a massage will up the ante for maximum relaxation and help get you in the right tranquil mood. Choose some candles that compliment the massage oils being rubbed into your skin. Pick oils for your massage designed to relieve stress and be sure these oils blend well. Some oils good for relaxation are chamomile, lavender, and rose essential oils.

Do-it-yourself aromatherapy massage oils is made a snap by combing essential oils with a carrier oil. You may want to test some of the oils on your skin before using as well. Some of the more popular carrier oils include olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, apricot oil, and jojoba oil.

Now for the bread and butter, the essential oils. To relieve anxiety and tension give these a try: lavender, arnica, calendula, jasmine, and frankincense. For a quick anti stress massage oil, blend oil of sage with lavender and lemon.

Cedarwood makes excellent calming massage oil and blends well with sandalwood, patchouli, eucalyptus, and lavender. Chamomile added to most any carrier oil will provide immediate relaxation and will even help you sleep.
