Double Chin Exercise

Today I'd like to share a double chin exercise or two.

Yes, you can get plastic surgery for this sort of thing, but, hey, why do that when a few simple exercises will accomplish the same goal for a lot less money?

If you want to tighten up your double chin, then try a few of these double chin removal exercises a few times a day...
  • Open your mouth, gently tilt your head backwards, and move your bottom lip over your top lip.

  • Along the same line of thought, without moving your head backwards, take your lower lip and try to touch your nose with it.

  • Repeatedly sticking your tongue out strengthens various mouth and face muscles and may help tighten up a double chin.

  • Press your palm to your forehead while resisting with your head and neck. Do you feel your neck and chin tightening?
If you tried these simple suggestions while you were reading, I bet you're already on the way to shrinking that double chin right out of existence.

Remember, double chins yield to exercise the same way regular old body fat does.

So get off your duff and move that body for at least 20 minutes a day.

Oops, sorry.

Didn't mean to sneak in a commercial for jogging and walking while we were on the topic of exercise for a double chin!

Oh, if you have a double chin exercise you'd like to share, click on the comment button below and type away.

These are some neat tips. I've come across the exercise pressing off the forehead before. It's a form of isometrics, and it's usually the way people train their neck since it's so delicate and hard to safely apply resistance or weight to it, common among wrestlers. I've come across the tongue one too, err... for personal reasons.

Vowel pronunciation? I tried it but... hm, I think the other ideas are better, focusing on the muscles themselves.

These exercises would be good for strengthening muscles. I'm not sure how double chins are caused, if any of it is due to weak muscles, then it would help. They won't help with fat or lost skin elasticity though. Exercise to lose fat like Chet recommended will fix fat loss. I'm not aware how to restore skin elasticity, sorry.

I had a speech therapist that had me do exercises for swallowing improperly... but they ended up strenthening the muscle tissue under my tongue and the area of my neck just below:

Suck you tongue up to the roof of your mouth; now holding it as hard as you can, drop your jaw down until the tongue is pulled away with a "clacking" sound. Repeat several times at a session. This is also a dynamic tension type of exercise, and can be practiced at home or perhaps in the car as you are driving.

lay on your bed with your head out in the empty, let your head lose and lift it up, repeat 100 times, this should work

I prefer the sticking out your tongue exercise.
It's an especially great way to start your day ...sticking your tongue out at anyone in upper management whenever you pass them , or they pass you.I find that many choose to follow with the same exercise routine , and some (higher the ladder)end up giving you a good tongue-lashing which forces you into to exercise #2 ...the exagerrated A....E...I...O..U....which can cause your eyes to bulge , thereby reducing those crows feet as well.

Ive found that if you rotate your head from right to left, and trying to touch your bottom lip to your nose about 30 times daily that chin will be gone in no time depending on the size of the chin

Lots of great tips here. Especially liked the one from ugogrrrl. Here's one I like that for me seems to help:

Stick your tongue out as far as you can, then curl it upwards towards the nose. You can also glid it far left and right for an even better effect.

You can REALLY feel how the muscles are affected under the chin. Do it and look in the mirror at your profile. You can see the pull.

Greetings to all!

After dieting and exercising I lost 35 kilos and am now toning up my previously fat body. I'm at my goal wieght and am quite fit but still have an issue with certain things like excess skin on my chin. I'll try these exercises and let you guys know how it goes! I don;t believe that surgurey is a necesity like some people claim.

These sound wonderful.. I'm collecting all of the tips and making a print out of all of them and going to do them daily, probably more than what you guys recommended.. I've hated my double chin for years (even though i'm not fat or even chubby.. i've just always had it..) and I would love to see it gone!

one to add to this that I was told years ago... place a tennis ball (or simular object) between your chin and chest and open and close your mouth, being sure to push into the tennis ball. It's is kinda of like weight lifting for your chin. You could easily combine one of the exercises above with this one, i.e. sticking your tongue out...

This one feels great! Tilt your head down as far as you can as though touching your chin to your chest and then repeatedly open and close your jaw with a really big smile. You can feel all the muscels working plus smiling makes you feel good!

Try standing up or sitting up straight, then smile as big as you can and then perse your lips really tight, doing this back and forth a few times per day.
You can feel the muscles tighten and this has worked for me.
After four days of doing this I started to see some results and continued. I find one needs to continue to do these though as maintenance even after they get their desired results otherwise it doesn't take long to have to start over, which makes sense when you're fighting gravity.

one common MYTH about excercise is that you can target fat and melt that fat away by doing chin excercises, for example.

the only way to loose fat is through cardiovascular excercise and dieting (500 cal. less a day = 1 llbs lost a week).

You CAN tighten muscles, which is what these excercises will do, but it will not melt the fat away on your chin.

Cardio is NOT the only way to lose fat. The MYTH is: Cardio exercise is the only way to lose fat.

Muscles eat fat quicker than cardio exercise. This is a fact. By building muscles you will lose fat.

Also, yes, you can target certain areas of the body. This is why we have ab machines, bar bells, leg weights, stair steppers and so on.

Cutting calories is a great idea if you consume major amounts daily. But if you try to cut calories when you don't consume them in masses, your body will think it is starving and begin to store fat.

Wow there are lots of tips here.
I hate my double chin...it isn't actually a double chin, just fat around my face that makes me look really fat. It doesn't suit my body as my body is normal and healthy. Sometimes, if I wear a thick coat, it makes me look fat.
I'll try all the suggestions here. One of them's got to work and again, like mopst people, I don't think that operation is needed for double chins...perhaps if you have an abnormaly big double chin but there are more ways to losing a double chin far better then going under the knife. I'll try all these sugestions...thanks.

An execise I know really works is one i got from Arnold Schwarzenegger's exercise profile. Close your mouth..bring your bottom teeth forward sticking out your chin and move your head up and down as if nodding Yes taking your head back until you feel a good pull on your throat area. This really pulls on the lower chin muscles and has very good results if you do about 100 or so a day.

I don't think chewing gum is going to help you solve your double chin issues by itself, but I don't think it would hurt. Weight loss is one of the main ways to get rid of the double chin, as the face and chin are one of the first places fat is stored for most people.

Once you lose the weight you will want to firm up the chin by doing chin exercises like the ones suggested in this post.

Since I was a toddler...all of my profile pics show my chin connected to the base of my neck in an almost STRAIGHT line :( I am 5'6" and weigh 128 on avg (size 3) and Have no fat on my body to speak of...just an out of the ordinary deposit in this one place. Trying daily exercises for most of 10 yrs I have yet to make a difference in this area:( For some the issue is one of anatomy and less of a weight area...for those of us surgery is the only option (though I will never goto that extreme myself) just to keep in mind if you find these unsuccessful.

These exercises alone won't get you rid of a double chin. All this does is strengthen the muscles around your face and neck area, which makes them look less "saggy", but still, it won't make the fat around your chin go away completely. I've done these for about half a year and they didn't get me rid of a double chin. The best way to clear out fat deposits is by doing cardio exercises. My recommendation would be to go out for a 30-minute jog daily and complement that with some of the exercises available in this page.

I googled how to get rid of a double chin and all I found were things about obesity, yes that is a possiblity but I am 8 1/2 stone well 9 1/2 now but thats due to me being 30 weeks pregnant.
I have always been skinny and my face is very skinny (when I go to the opticians the only choice of glasses I have are childrens ¬.¬)
so obviously a double chin on me actually looks very silly I think and It makes me feel fat, the annoying thing is I can't say I'm fat because I'm not.
I have tried some of these exercises today and will be doing them more everyday, lets hope they work :)
