Uterine
fibroids are another common cause of female infertility problems.
This condition is similar to endometriosis, but instead of having uterine lining
tissue growing outside the uterus, with fibroids there are small tumors or growths
which are growing inside the uterus.
These
growths are rarely cancerous, but they can cause many health and fertility problems
for women.
The
growths inside the uterus with fibroids are usually made up of muscle cells and
other tissues from the inside walls of your uterus. These growths can happen individually,
or in small clustered groups.
Sizes
vary greatly too. The fibroid tumors can be as small as a plant seed, or as large
as a grapefruit. Some have even grown to as large as eight or more inches in size.
Fibroids
are said to be the most common type of non cancerous tumor women get during their
childbearing years.
Unfortunately
it's not yet know what causes these tumors to develop, and there are often no
symptoms involved with them either.
The
best information available so far says that fibroids occur in African American
women the most, and they're more likely to get fibroids at younger ages too. Fibroids
occur during the years a women is considered to be of childbearing age and ability,
and they seem to occur in overweight or obese women slightly more often. Women
who have had at least one child however, seem to be at a lower risk of developing
uterine fibroids.
In
most cases there are no symptoms of fibroids, but for women who do get symptoms,
they're similar to other female health and infertility problems.
Heavy
or painful menstrual periods for instance, bleeding between periods, experiencing
pain during intercourse, frequent urination, and a feeling of fullness in the
lower pelvic region.
Women
with fibroids often have problems getting pregnant too, or they frequently miscarry.
Some women will have premature babies as well.
Like
many female infertility problems, modern medical treatments often consist of adjusting
the body's hormone levels.
This
is usually done with synthetic hormones, however, which can have dangerous side
effects.
More
natural approaches to the treatment of fibroids involves the use of natural herbal
hormone balancers, using herbs which boost the body's nutrition and immune system,
and using herbs which can help dissolve tumors in the body.
Black
Cohosh is an herb for instance, which is a natural source of estrogen.
This
is often used quite successfully in women with low estrogen levels.
Sarsaparilla is an herb which will balance the hormones in both men and women,
and this is often needed for women who suffer from Fibroids and other infertility
problems.
One
other herb that may be an excellent remedy for women with fibroids is called Horsetail.
This herb dissolves tumors in the body, and may be able to clear out the fibroid
tissues over time.
